Fortinet Discovers MSRawImage Store Out-of-bound Memory Write Vulnerability


Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs has discovered out-of-bounds memory write vulnerability in Microsoft Raw Image Extension.

The Raw Image Extension adds native viewing support for images captured in raw file formats produced by many mid- to high-end digital cameras

The out-of-bounds memory write vulnerability exists due to unsanitized user-controlled data crafted in a raw image file parsed by a vulnerable component. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could obtain remote code execution on the user's system.


Users should apply the solution provided by Microsoft.

This vulnerability was discovered by Wayne Low of Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs.
