Fortinet Discovers Adobe Illustrator CC 2019 Insecure DLL Loading Vulnerability

Summary

Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs has discovered an Insecure DLL Loading vulnerability in Adobe Illustrator CC 2019.


Adobe Illustrator CC is a vector graphics editor. It is used by millions of designers and artists to create everything from gorgeous web and mobile graphics to logos, icons, book illustrations, product packaging, and billboards.


Adobe Illustrator CC 2019 is susceptible to an Insecure DLL Loading vulnerability. The issue occurs when the application opens a GIF file. The application generally follows a specific search path to locate the DLL. The vulnerability can be exploited by putting a malicious DLL in the same folder as the GIF file. It can result in a foreign DLL running under the context of the application.
