Fortinet Discovers TYPO3 CMS Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability


Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs has discovered a Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability in TYPO3 CMS.

TYPO3 CMS is an Open Source Enterprise Content Management System (CMS) with a large global community, backed by the approximately 900 members of the TYPO3 Association.

A Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability exists in the TYPO3 CMS. Attacker who successfully trigger the vulnerability could result in arbitrary code execution in user browser context.


FortiGuard Labs released the following FortiGate IPS signature which covers this specific vulnerability:

Users should apply SVG sanitize plugin provided by TYPO3.


Fortinet reported the vulnerability to TYPO3 on 23 August, 2019. 

TYPO3 confirmed the vulnerability on 29 August, 2019. 

TYPO3 released sanitizer plugin to protect for the vulnerability on 29 October, 2019.


This vulnerability was discovered by Nguyen Thanh Nguyen of Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs.
