Fortinet Discovers Joomla! VirtueMart Extension Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerability
Summary
Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs has discovered a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Joomla! VirtueMart Extension.VirtueMart is a free and open source e-commerce solution designed as an extension of the Joomla! content management system (CMS). VirtueMart is a highly configurable and customizable multi-language e-commerce solution. With the experience of more than 10 years, now VirtueMart is very powerful and the leading e-commerce solution with more than 2 million downloads. Joomla! is the second most used CMS on the Internet after WordPress.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficiently sanitizing user-supplied inputs. A remote attacker could exploit it to inject malicious script code into the web pages generated by VirtueMart Extension. When victims view these crafted web pages via Web Browser, the injected script code will be automatically executed on behalf of the victims.
