Submitting an IPS Case to FortiGuard Team



If you would like to submit an IPS case to the FortiGuard Team, the following guideline will facilitate you to provide us the required information to process the case.

Preparation

Prepare the following before submitting a ticket:
1. Description of the target: specific application/s, service/s, Operating System/s, etc. (required).
2. Network and Operating System environment (required).
3. One of the following is required:

  • Proof-of-concept (PoC): Program source code or executable binary with Explanation or How-To in text format.
  • Or, Network captured traffic of the complete session/s in PCap format.
4. Other information that may be of relevant. (i.e. Clean traffic) (optional)

Upload the files

The 3rd item in the preparation section above likely has a large file size. If you have subscribed to Fortinet's FortiGuard Premier Service, use the FTP server provided to you. The suggested folder syntax is YYYYMMDD/CompanyName. (where YYYY is the year, MM month and DD day; i.e. /20080222/XYZCompany). The folders in the FortiGuard FTP server are accessible but hidden for security purposes.

Submit the case

  • Open a web browser and go to www.fortiguardcenter.com . Then, click the "Contact the FortiGuard Team" on the upper right hand side of the web page.
  • Then, select either "Report an exploit or vulnerability" or "Request a review on a vulnerability signature."
  • Fill out the form. Make sure to use your company email address and add the FGT Serial Number. These will be used to verify your account.
  • Once the submission is received, expect a confirmation email shortly after.
